The most rewarding part of my career is helping clients grow and reach their goals.
“
OMH: How long have you been a practitioner?
AL: Since 2012
OMH: Please give us an example of a success story with a client.
AL: A client came to me for treatment for anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and problems managing her intense emotions. She learned evidence-based skills to reduce and control her symptoms. With encouragement, she gained a sense of compassion for herself and could silence negative self-criticism. She eliminated her depression, learned to control her anxiety, and no longer had panic attacks by the end of treatment. This client met her goals and moved on to successfully meet the challenges of a new career.
OMH: What about your career in mental health is most rewarding and/or challenging?
AL: The most rewarding part of my career is helping clients grow and reach their goals.
OMH: Why did you choose to work with OMH?
AL: I support OMH’s holistic perspective of looking at the whole person, not just at the reason a client is coming to therapy.
OMH: What does it feel like to work with you?
AL: I am encouraging, a good listener, and strive to provide clients with a safe space at every visit to express their thoughts and feelings. I always appreciate client feedback and often check to make sure I am providing the therapy they need and helping them achieve their goals.
OMH: What may people experience while working with you?
AL: I believe every individual has the potential to lead a happy and fulfilling life. I create a compassionate and healing environment for my clients, where I listen attentively and think carefully about their well-being.
OMH: What broad themes will people get to discuss with you?
AL: People will get to discuss what brought them to therapy and what they want to change. We don’t just talk about goals - I also provide clients with the skills to get there. Common themes include improving self-esteem, ending self-criticism, reducing anxiety and depression, learning better communication skills, improving interpersonal functioning, managing emotions, overcoming trauma, and becoming more skilled at managing life and its challenges.
OMH: Thank you for speaking with us!
